About Nemesia in Winter

Does nemesia bloom in winter? Nemesia is generally grown as an annual. In the South, nemesia is planted in fall and will bloom throughout the winter and well into spring as long as temperatures aren’t too hot. Nemesia is a summer annual in cool northern climates, where it will bloom from late spring to the first frost. Temperatures of 70 degrees F. (21 C.) during the day are ideal, with cooler temperatures during the night. However, growth slows when temperatures drop to 50 degrees F. (10 C.). Newer hybrids are an exception, however. Look for Nemesia capensis, N. foetens, N. caerulea, N. pallida, and N. fruticans, which are more frost tolerant and can withstand temperatures as low as 32 degrees F. (0 C.). The newer nemesia hybrid plants also can tolerate a little more heat and will bloom longer in  southern climates.
